Türkiye President awards Sheikha Fatima 'Order of the Republic'

First woman to receive the honour

Sheikha Fatima becomes the first female recipient of this distinguished national award, which is granted by Türkiye’s president based on cabinet recommendation.

Ceremony held at Dolmabahçe Palace

The award was presented during a ceremony at Istanbul’s Dolmabahçe Palace, attended by First Lady Emine Erdoğan and Sheikha Fatima’s high-level accompanying delegation.

Recognition of humanitarian and social leadership

The honour acknowledges Sheikha Fatima’s pioneering initiatives in community development, humanitarian work, and the empowerment of women—locally and internationally.

Erdoğan praises Sheikha Fatima’s legacy

President Erdoğan commended Sheikha Fatima for her impactful efforts in education, health, and social development, and highlighted the role of the Sheikh Zayed Children’s Complex in Istanbul as a lasting symbol of UAE-Türkiye cooperation.

Strengthening UAE-Türkiye relations

President Erdoğan also emphasised the growing bilateral ties rooted in the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and appreciated Sheikha Fatima’s contribution to advancing these strong bonds.

In her remarks, Sheikha Fatima expressed deep gratitude for the honour, dedicating the award to all women involved in nation-building and humanitarian service. She highlighted the evolving partnership between the UAE and Türkiye under the leadership of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Erdoğan.

Order of the Republic: A rare honour

The Order of the Republic of Türkiye is one of the country’s highest state decorations, awarded to only nine global figures to date, underscoring the significance of Sheikha Fatima’s recognition.
