Abdullah bin Zayed meets Pakistani PM to boost bilateral ties

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Monday with Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in Islamabad.

The meeting was also attended by General Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan.

Strengthening strategic bilateral relations

Held as part of Sheikh Abdullah’s working visit to Pakistan, the meeting focused on exploring ways to strengthen cooperation, building on the deep-rooted and strategic relations between the two nations.

Reviewing recent developments

The discussions also reviewed the outcomes of the recent official visit by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, to Pakistan in February, and the significant role it played in deepening collaboration between the two countries across several strategic sectors.

Exploring opportunities for expanded cooperation

Sheikh Abdullah and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif explored prospects for further cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including economy, trade, investment, and development, aimed at advancing mutual interests and promoting shared prosperity for their peoples.

Shared commitment to development

During the meeting, the UAE Top Diplomat expressed his pride in visiting Pakistan, which shares with the UAE a deep-rooted and evolving historical relationship.

He reiterated that both countries share a strong mutual will and commitment to further strengthen this distinguished partnership and enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors, in a way that supports their development goals and brings prosperity and progress to their peoples.

Words of gratitude and broader dialogue

He also extended his gratitude to Pakistan's Prime Minister for the warm welcome and hospitality, and conveyed his best wishes for Pakistan’s continued growth and prosperity.

The two sides also discussed several regional and international issues of joint interest and exchanged views on current developments.
