The UAE also denounced the violations committed against Christians in Jerusalem during Holy Saturday, including obstructing access to churches and physical assaults. It warned these actions could intensify tensions and lead to regional escalation.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to ensuring full protection of both Islamic and Christian holy sites and urged an end to provocative actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Ministry stressed the importance of respecting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s custodial role over the holy sites, in line with international law and historical agreements. It also emphasised the need to uphold the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration.
The UAE expressed strong support for all Jordanian efforts to protect and preserve the sanctity of holy sites in Jerusalem.
The Ministry held Israeli authorities responsible for halting escalation, rejecting all violations of international legitimacy, and called for actions to prevent further instability.
The UAE urged the international community to intensify efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution based on the two-state framework that enables the Palestinian people to establish an independent, sovereign state in accordance with international law.
