FNC, Malaysian House Speakers discuss boosting parliamentary ties

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met with Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Parliamentary Group in Solidarity with Palestine, held in Istanbul, Turkiye.

Strengthening bilateral and parliamentary relations

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral and parliamentary ties between the UAE and Malaysia, reflecting the visions of their leaderships and the aspirations of their peoples.

Emphasis on joint parliamentary action

They affirmed the importance of joint parliamentary efforts, including bilateral meetings, exchange visits, and sharing parliamentary expertise and knowledge. Both speakers stressed the activation of parliamentary cooperation in support of national and Islamic causes.

Unified support for the Palestinian Cause

The Palestinian issue was highlighted as a top priority. They noted that parliamentary diplomacy serves as a vital tool of soft power, contributing to unified parliamentary positions and raising awareness of the Palestinian people’s suffering.

Call for peace and justice

The leaders underscored the right to live in peace and security, calling for adherence to international laws, charters, and resolutions to ensure justice and human rights for all.
