Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Institute for Heritage is taking part in the Rabat International Book Fair, held from April 17–27, 2025. The Emirate of Sharjah has been named the guest of honor, offering a rich and diverse cultural program through its dedicated pavilion.

Celebrating Moroccan heritage through new publications

The Institute is showcasing and launching several new titles that explore aspects of Moroccan heritage, including:

Moroccan Folk Heritage by Aziz Al-Arabawi

Popular Proverbs in the Eastern Region of the Kingdom of Morocco by Dr Halima Al-Ismaili

The Use of Folk Heritage in the Arabic Novel by Dr Al-Jilali Al-Gharabi

Narrative Structure and Imagination in Finnish Folktales: The Kalevala as a Model by Dr. Muhammad Fakhr Al-Din

The Qarawiyyin Library in the City of Fez by Taher Al-Tawil

A Brief History of Proverbs and Wisdom by Dr Abdel Aziz Belbakri

African Memory by Dr Ahmed Al-Shukri

Warnings by Dr Saeed Yaktine

A pavilion featuring 1,000+ titles

The Sharjah Heritage Institute’s pavilion will feature over 1,000 titles, spanning a wide range of topics related to Emirati, Gulf, Arab, and global heritage. These publications reflect the Institute's mission to preserve and promote cultural heritage, both regionally and internationally.

Statements from institute leadership

His Excellency Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, emphasised the importance of this participation:

“This year's presence is exceptional as we represent the Capital of Arab Culture. The Institute has long celebrated the richness of Moroccan heritage and continues to support writers and researchers through quality publications and cultural engagement.”

He also affirmed the Institute’s role in creating an inclusive cultural space that honors Moroccan contributions to Arab heritage and fosters lasting academic and cultural exchange.

Sharjah’s role in preserving heritage

Dr Al Musallam explained that the Institute’s presence in Rabat is part of a larger strategy to highlight its publishing achievements, foster connections with Moroccan readers, and promote sustainable efforts to preserve cultural identity in the face of modernization and globalisation.
