Sharjah 24 – WAM: A spokesperson for Oman’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that today’s meetings in Rome between Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Abbas Araghchi and US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, mediated by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, resulted in an agreement by both parties to transition to the next phase of negotiations.

Goals of the new negotiation phase

These talks aim to reach a fair, lasting, and binding agreement, ensuring Iran remains completely free of nuclear weapons and that all sanctions are lifted. At the same time, the agreement would preserve Iran’s right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, according to Oman News Agency (ONA).

Emphasis on dialogue and next steps

The spokesperson added that dialogue and clear communication are the only path to achieving a credible and mutually acceptable understanding that benefits all parties regionally and internationally. The next round of negotiations is set to take place in Muscat in the coming days.
