Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out for up to seven weeks due to an ankle injury, as confirmed by manager Pep Guardiola ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League game against Leicester City.

Injury details and recovery timeline

The 24-year-old Norway international, who has scored 21 goals in 28 league games this season, sustained the injury during City’s FA Cup quarter-final victory over Bournemouth. Guardiola noted that injuries have been a recurring issue this season, but remains hopeful Haaland will recover in time for the season's conclusion and the upcoming Club World Cup.

Guardiola's remarks on Haaland's injury

Guardiola expressed sympathy for Haaland, stating: “Sometimes there are years when these kinds of things happen. It happened all season. I would say that it could have been different if it was the end of the season (before the Club World Cup).”

Guardiola further wished Haaland a speedy recovery, with doctors estimating a return in five to seven weeks. The Club World Cup is scheduled to run from June 14 to July 13, and Guardiola hopes Haaland will be fit by then.
