Sheikh Al-Doubi shares a story from the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings about a companion who called upon God using His greatest name, which, when invoked, guarantees that prayers are answered. The Prophet also introduces the concept of the prayer of necessity, where one seeks God in times of utmost need.
Sheikh Al-Doubi gives the example of Prophet Yunus (Jonah), who prayed while in the belly of the whale, and God answered him. He highlights that bad thoughts about God can be one of the worst barriers to answered prayers.
The episode ends with a Divine hadith: “I am as My servant thinks of Me. If they think well, it is good; if they think ill, it is bad.”
