As part of its initiative, the FTA launched a new SMS campaign in collaboration with UAE's major telecom companies, e& and Du, targeting the UAE community.
The FTA reiterated that natural persons who conduct business in the UAE and exceed AED 1 million in annual revenue must register for corporate tax by March 31 of the following year.
A “natural person” refers to any living individual, whether residing in the UAE or elsewhere, who carries out business activities in the UAE. This includes sole proprietors and partners in joint ventures.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, FTA Director-General, explained that the SMS campaign is part of a broader plan to educate individuals on corporate tax registration and avoid late registration penalties.
Between January and March 2025, over 405,000 awareness messages, including emails, SMS, and press releases, were sent to FTA registrants. The FTA continues to update its website and social media platforms to inform the public about corporate tax registration.
Natural persons whose business revenue exceeded AED 1 million in 2024 must register by March 31, 2025, to avoid a fine of AED 10,000. Corporate tax returns are due by September 30, 2025.
VAT or Excise Tax registrants can use EmaraTax for 24/7 access to corporate tax registration. New users can create an account, complete the registration process, and receive a tax registration number.
Taxpayers can also submit their registration applications at Tas’heel Centres across the UAE. The FTA’s website offers resources, including guidelines, clarifications, and manuals on corporate tax registration.
