According to a joint statement by the FIA and Formula 1, the approval followed comprehensive evaluations across sporting, technical, and commercial factors. The announcement confirmed that General Motors’ nomination for Cadillac’s entry into the championship was successfully validated.
Supported by General Motors and TWG Motorsports, Cadillac’s approval comes after nearly two months of negotiations and a preliminary agreement reached in November. Cadillac will become the first all-new team to enter Formula 1 since Haas in 2016, making it the 11th team in the competition.
For the 2026 and 2027 seasons, Cadillac will be powered by Ferrari before transitioning to its own power units from 2028, further solidifying its commitment to the championship.
