Africa Institute celebrates book launch based on 2020 conference

Sharjah 24: Dagmawi Woubshet, a professor of literature at the University of Pennsylvania stressed during the launch of a new book published in collaboration with the Africa Institute in Sharjah, as the culmination of a project that began in 2019 in the Africa Hall, the importance of the research, dialogues and discussions presented by more than 25 researchers at a conference organised by the Institute in 2020, in publishing the new edition, which constitutes a prominent academic achievement, and confirms its commitment to supporting scientific research and enhancing knowledge in the field of African studies.

The project's beginnings

The event marked the completion of a project that began in 2019 at Africa Hall as part of the Africa Institute's country-focused season. The project culminated in a major symposium in 2020, where over 25 researchers presented their findings. The newly published book is based on the conference proceedings and represents years of scholarly work.

During the launch, the book's co-editors shared insights into the process from concept to publication, emphasizing the importance of the research and discussions at the conference. A representative from EA Books, a publishing company based in Johannesburg, Lagos, and Germany, also attended, expanding the book's reach within the academic and literary communities.
