US Secretary of State Marco Rubio
Sharjah 24 – KUNA: Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced late Sunday the approval of $4 billion in military assistance to Israel.

Expedited delivery using emergency authorities

In a press statement, Rubio explained that he signed a declaration to use emergency authorities to expedite the delivery of this military aid to Israel.

Criticism of Biden Administration's arms embargo

Rubio criticized the Biden administration’s partial arms embargo, which had withheld certain weapons and ammunition from Israel. He emphasized that under President Trump, Israel had a strong ally and highlighted that nearly $12 billion in major Foreign Military Sales (FMS) had been approved since Trump took office.

Repeal of Biden-era memorandum

The decision also aligns with Trump’s repeal of a Biden-era memorandum that had imposed conditions on military assistance. Rubio described these conditions as baseless and politicized, especially given Israel’s fight against multiple threats from Iran and terror proxies.
