Sharjah 24 – AFP: Two passenger buses collided on Saturday on a highway in southern Bolivia, resulting in at least 37 fatalities, including two children, and leaving around 30 people injured. The incident occurred near the city of Uyuni in the Potosi department.

The crash, the deadliest in Bolivia so far this year, happened on a narrow two-way road early Saturday morning. One of the buses was traveling to the Oruro Carnival, a major event in Latin America attracting tens of thousands of visitors.

Possible causes and investigation

While the exact cause of the collision remains unclear, police reported that one of the buses had veered into the opposite lane. Additionally, one of the drivers, who survived but is in critical condition, was found to have "alcohol breath," prompting a blood test.
