Sharjah24: At the vibrant Xposure International Photography Festival, renowned Spanish photographer Jaime Rojo captivates audiences with his unique blend of artistry, conservation, and compelling storytelling. With a profound passion for the wild, Rojo’s work centers on breathtaking visuals that celebrate the beauty of nature and wildlife, while also addressing critical conservation issues.
As a dedicated photojournalist, Rojo acknowledges the challenges of harmonising visual splendor with meaningful narratives. “In conservation photography, it can be tough to strike the perfect balance between aesthetic appeal and the essential storytelling elements,” he reveals.

His latest project celebrates the stunning congregations of monarch butterflies in Mexico, a visually enchanting phenomenon that has inspired him for years. Initially captivated by their sheer beauty, Rojo felt a strong urge to deepen his storytelling approach. “At some point in my career, I realised I wanted to tell stories. I began exploring photojournalism and documentary photography, which enriched my perspective.”

Rojo's current body of work exemplifies this balance, showcasing not only the stunning visuals of the monarchs but also weaving in narratives that highlight the importance of conservation. “This project encapsulates a harmonious mix of beauty, storytelling, and conservation,” he explains. Through his lens, Rojo invites viewers to appreciate the intricate relationship between nature and human responsibility, making his work both visually arresting and profoundly impactful.
