On February 12, His Excellency Brigadier Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal, Director General of the General Department of Prevention and Community Protection, inaugurated the Sharjah Police pavilion in the Al Mareija area. The event will run until February 23, 2025. Also present at the inauguration were Brigadier Dr Ali Ahmed Bu Al Zoud, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Prevention and Community Protection; Colonel Mohammed Al Dhahouri, Deputy Director of the Security Media Department; and several officers from participating police departments.
This year, the Sharjah Police pavilion features a collection of items that reflect the long history and evolution of police work. The display includes a reading chair with 290 books on various security topics, as well as old police patrol vehicles, alarm bells of various sizes, and vintage wireless communication devices. It also features traditional police uniforms and early traffic signs used during the founding phase of the Police and Public Security Department. Additionally, products made by inmates of the penal and correctional institution are showcased, connecting the past and present and reviving national legacies.
During his tour, Brigadier Ahmed Haji Al Sarkal emphasized that Sharjah Police’s participation represents the fusion of authentic heritage and modern civilisation. He pointed out the importance of such events in strengthening national identity and instilling its values in future generations. He also noted that the pavilion provides not only a display of heritage but also a cognitive experience that highlights the development of the security system, while showcasing Sharjah’s efforts to stay abreast of technological advancements while preserving UAE's cultural heritage.
