Elwaer explained to “Sharjah 24” that the Arab region is heavily impacted by drought, limited water resources, and inadequate land for agricultural production. A recent FAO report indicates that the region is falling behind in meeting the sustainable development goal of eradicating hunger, emphasising the urgent need for investment in innovation, technology, and artificial intelligence.
Elwaer also recognised the World Government Summit as an important platform for sharing success stories and solutions from over 140 participating countries. He stated that while self-sufficiency in food production may not be possible, food sovereignty and security could be achieved through peace, fair trade, and equitable food distribution across both urban and rural areas in the Arab region.
