Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised EAD’s efforts in strengthening the scientific research ecosystem, preserving the emirate’s natural heritage, and safeguarding its resources. He highlighted EAD’s role in championing environmental action, aligning with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to prioritize the environment and build a sustainable future.
Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri provided an overview of EAD’s strategic priorities, including the protection of the environment, preservation of natural resources, and promotion of sustainability.
The delegation discussed EAD’s role in managing the Sheikh Zayed Protected Areas Network, which includes reserves like Jabal Hafit National Park and the Arabian Oryx Protected Area, dedicated to protecting endangered species. EAD also focuses on biodiversity conservation and restoring natural pastures, particularly in the Al Ain region.
The meeting covered the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence for monitoring and rehabilitating plant life and pastures. EAD also highlighted regulatory measures to protect ecosystems.
The EAD delegation shared updates on the Plant Genetic Resources Centre in Al Ain, groundwater management programs, and the Hydrogeological Mapping Project aimed at optimizing natural resource management and ensuring water security.
The delegation reaffirmed EAD’s support for Abu Dhabi’s circular-economy initiatives, focusing on sustainable waste management and policy development in line with the emirate’s environmental sustainability goals.
