Maraya Art Centre in Sharjah inaugurates two art exhibitions

Sharjah 24: Maraya Art Centre, a creative initiative by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), launched two significant exhibitions on Sunday. The event was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Shurooq, Sultan Saoud Al Qasimi, Founder of Barjeel Art Foundation, and Dr Pradeep Sharma, Director of Arts, Culture and Heritage at Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, among other officials.

"Nadia Seikaly and her contemporaries" exhibition

The first exhibition, titled "Nadia Seikaly and Her Contemporaries", showcases the work of the pioneering Lebanese abstract artist Nadia Seikaly. Known for her innovative use of materials and bold color choices, Seikaly's work is influenced by science, philosophy, spirituality, and nature. Her artistic practice has had a profound impact on the development of abstract art in the region.

"Between Sunrise and Sunset" installation

The second exhibition, "Between Sunrise and Sunset", features the installation by Emirati artist Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim. Curated by Maya Allison for the National Pavilion of the UAE at the 2022 Art Biennale, the installation consists of 128 individual pieces.
