SEF 2025 explores AI ethics and Gen Z’s $3 trillion economy

Sharjah 24: With artificial intelligence evolving at an unprecedented pace, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SEF) 2025 spotlighted its impact on humanity in the session ‘Shaping the Future of Humanity & AI.’ Egyptian entrepreneur Mo Gawdat emphasised the importance of ethical AI development, stating that AI's future is not just about technology, but responsibility.

Ethical framework for AI development

Gawdat likened AI to Superman, warning that its impact depends on the ethical values we instill in it today. He urged that we must guide AI with empathy, ethics, and purpose, stressing that the choices made now will determine whether AI serves humanity or becomes its challenge.

Youth as catalysts for change

In the ‘Generation Next: Why Young People Are Natural Social Innovators’ session, Dr. Eric Dawson highlighted how youth are driving social change, with Gen Z controlling $3 trillion in annual spending. He also shared the success story of Walter in Uganda, who used Rivet’s microfinancing to empower young people and support social innovations.
