UAE President briefed on programmes at MBZUAI

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, on Friday.

Tour of University’s facilities

During the visit, His Highness toured the university’s departments and facilities. He was briefed on the academic programs, research focus areas, and the resources available to students.

Global AI partnerships

His Highness also received an update on the university’s partnerships with leading global institutions specialising in artificial intelligence research.

Data observatory and AI projects

The President visited the university’s Data Observatory, where faculty and researchers presented five AI-driven research projects in fields such as energy, climate, medicine, genetics, media, and robotics. Two start-ups from the university’s incubator also showcased their work.

Meeting with faculty and students

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed met with Professor Eric Xing, President of MBZUAI, faculty members, administrators, and postgraduate students. He encouraged the students to continue advancing knowledge in service of their communities and nations.

Role in UAE’s vision for AI development

His Highness emphasised the university’s key role in supporting the UAE’s vision for investment in artificial intelligence and technology, focusing on preparing national talent for a knowledge-based economy.

Appreciation and recognition

The President expressed his appreciation for the university’s leadership and staff, wishing them continued success. Professor Eric Xing praised the university's progress and global rankings, particularly in AI, computer vision, and other technological fields.

Accompanied by senior officials

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was accompanied by senior officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, and other prominent leaders during the visit.
