The delegation was headed by Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Family Affairs Committee, and the delegation included members of the committee, including Rashid Ghanem Al Shamsi, committee’s rapporteur; Abdullah Al Badawi Al Hosani; Abdullah bin Madan Al Ketbi; Abdullah bin Tarish Al Kaabi; Muhammad Al Alawi Al Dhahouri and Hamid Obaid Al Hamoudi. In addition to Dr. Hind Al Hajri from the Health, Labour and Social Affairs Committee; from the General Secretariat of the Council Huda Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the Council; and Dr. Islam Al Shiwi, Media Expert.
The delegation was received by His Excellency Ahmed Al Mail, Chairman of SSSD, and his assistants from various departments, branches and sections, who welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of the role played by SCC in supporting and guiding the department's progress towards providing the best community services.
Al Mail praised the valuable contributions that the department's working team continues to provide to improve the social life of citizens and families in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
For his part, the Chairman of the Family Affairs Committee, Saeed Matar Al Tunaiji, welcomed the attendees and conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Council and the General Secretariat of the Council, praising SSSD efforts in serving the community and enhancing the welfare of families.
Al Tunaiji stressed that the committee always seeks to enhance cooperation with government departments that contribute to meeting the needs of society.
The meeting saw fruitful discussions on a number of important topics related to providing social services and disbursing aid, enhancing cooperation with health and educational institutions, and increasing community awareness of the services available to citizens. The importance of providing a better environment to serve the elderly and families affected by difficult economic conditions was also discussed, in line with the vision of the Ruler of Sharjah to provide a decent life for every family in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The discussion focused on SSSD specialisations in providing comprehensive support to productive families and the elderly. The system of services provided by SSSD was identified, including services for the elderly and bedridden, home visits, and what is provided to citizens, as well as the efforts made to activate volunteer initiatives, in addition to addressing child protection reports in effective coordination with the relevant authorities.
The discussions focused on the ongoing plans and programmes provided by SSSD around the clock to provide additional support for psychological and social care services for children, especially those affected by family challenges.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Ahmed Al Mail expressed his thanks and gratitude to the delegation for the valuable visit and constructive dialogues that took place, stressing that SSSD will continue its efforts to provide its community services in a manner that suits the needs of citizens and enhances their quality of life.
His Excellency Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Family Affairs Committee, explained that the Committee and the Council's Health Affairs Committee visited all the branches of the Department in various regions of the emirate during the past few days, and closely reviewed the services provided to families and various groups in society, including the elderly and families affected by various circumstances.
Al Tunaiji pointed out that he noticed a high level of professionalism and attention provided by the Department in various fields, which reflects its constant commitment to improving and developing its services. He explained that during the meeting with officials in the Department, there was a fruitful discussion about the need to improve some aspects related to the Department's work, which was confirmed by His Excellency Ahmed Al Mail, Chairman of the Department, indicating that there are well-thought-out plans to meet these needs in line with the requirements of society.
