UAE, Portugal discuss protecting public resources

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Humaid Obaid Abushibs, Chairman of the UAE Accountability Authority (UAEAA), has wrapped up an official visit to Portugal aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships and sharing best practices in protecting public resources.

Meetings with key Portuguese leaders

During the visit, Abushibs met with several key figures, including Filipa Urbano Calvão, President of the Court of Auditors, and António Pires da Graça, Head of Portugal's National Anti-Corruption Mechanism, to discuss cooperation in oversight, auditing, and promoting integrity.

UAEAA’s efforts to enhance governance

The UAEAA emphasized its ongoing initiatives to improve governance systems, highlighting the role of regulatory sectors in oversight and integrity. The Authority also showcased innovative technical solutions to support its strategy of promoting transparency and accountability.

The visit underscored the UAE's strategy of fostering international cooperation by aligning expertise and exchanging global best practices to improve audit efficiency and strengthen governance.
