Sharjah 24 – WAM: Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), has approved the "Protocol for Autopsy and Aviation Medicine in Air Accident Investigations." This new step aims to improve air accident investigation practices in the UAE.

Enhancing national capabilities in air accident investigations

 This protocol is a significant and distinctive addition to the UAE's aviation sector, strengthening national capabilities in air accident investigations. It promotes collaboration among relevant entities and introduces an innovative approach to analyzing the health status of flight crew members, alongside other investigative elements such as aircraft condition, flight operations, and human factors.

A commitment to aviation safety and innovation

 Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri emphasized the protocol’s role in fostering a safer and more sustainable aviation environment. He expressed pride in the UAE’s advanced status in aviation security and its sophisticated capabilities in handling air incidents, reflecting the country’s commitment to improving air accident investigations and preventing future occurrences.

Strengthening multidisciplinary cooperation

 Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, highlighted that the protocol represents a qualitative leap in air accident investigations. Developed in coordination with various national entities, it encourages multidisciplinary cooperation and strengthens the UAE's efforts to apply global best practices in aviation safety.

Advancing forensic methods in investigations

 Captain Aysha Mohammed Al Hamil, Assistant Director-General in Air Accident Investigations, emphasized the protocol’s value in enhancing the effectiveness of investigations through advanced forensic methods. By leveraging local expertise, the UAE aims to create a more accurate and efficient investigative framework to identify causes and prevent accidents.
