Azerbaijan Airlines jet crashes in Kazakhstan with 67 passengers

Sharjah 24 – AFP: An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet, traveling from Baku to Grozny, crashed on Wednesday in western Kazakhstan, according to the Kazakh transport ministry.

Crash Location and Emergency Response

The crash occurred near the city of Aktau, an oil and gas hub located on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. The plane, an Embraer 190, made an emergency landing approximately three kilometers from Aktau. Emergency personnel are currently working to extinguish a fire at the crash site.

Passenger and Crew Details

There were 62 passengers and five crew members on board the flight. While information about casualties is still being verified, preliminary reports indicate that there are survivors.
