Sharjah 24 – WAM: The Muslim Council of Elders has announced the second edition of the Faith Pavilion, set to take place at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, this November.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition at COP28 in the UAE, the Pavilion will unite a diverse coalition of 97 organizations representing 11 different faiths to provide unique moral and ethical perspectives on climate action.

This year's Pavilion will feature over 40 discussion sessions focused on integrating spirituality and ethics into climate strategies. Topics will include restoring spiritual roots to address the climate crisis, exploring the non-economic impacts of climate change, empowering youth through faith teachings, and enhancing women’s leadership in achieving climate justice.

The Pavilion will also cover sustainable lifestyles, faith-inspired eco-villages, innovative climate financing, and intergenerational dialogue. It aims to highlight the principles of the "Call of Conscience: Abu Dhabi Joint Statement for Climate" within an interactive framework, positioning itself as a hub for transformative ideas and collaborative solutions.

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, emphasized the urgent need for climate action rooted in ethical values and scientific knowledge. He noted the Pavilion's goal to continue the momentum from COP28 while strengthening collective spiritual efforts to tackle climate challenges.

In a significant first, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) will present a series of scientific sessions at the Faith Pavilion, focusing on bridging the gap between science and religion. This collaboration aims to integrate scientific insights with moral imperatives to address the climate crisis.

The Faith Pavilion will frame climate change as a profound ethical issue, urging global policymakers to consider the spiritual consequences of environmental neglect. It will also feature youth leaders from various faiths, emphasizing the importance of intergenerational collaboration and showcasing successful grassroots initiatives.

Overall, the Faith Pavilion at COP29 seeks to foster collaboration among religious leaders, scientists, and policymakers, ensuring that faith communities' voices are integral to global climate policy. It will deliver a message of unity and hope, calling for collective action toward a sustainable relationship with nature based on stewardship, compassion, and justice.
