SCFA to launch Sharjah Cultural Forum ‘Ya Zaman Al Wasl’

Sharjah24: The Cultural Office of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, under the patronage of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, the wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, is making preparations to launch the Sharjah Cultural Forum “Ya Zaman Al Wasl” from October 15 to 20.
The forum features a variety of diverse cultural programs and welcomes over 35 influential cultural and media figures. It encompasses interactive sessions such as "Majalis," which are seminars delving into multiple cultural, intellectual, and social topics by hosting prominent Emirati and Arab thinkers with diverse specializations. Additionally, it includes "If the Rain Hums," a poetry evening, "Seagulls of the East," a tribute to Andalusian art, "The Connection...Between Two Cities," a photo exhibition featuring plastic art inspired by the architectural style of Sharjah with Islamic touches and decorations from the Andalusian era, and "Ishraq and its Sisters," a specialized program for female Emirati writers.

The inaugural day of the forum, scheduled to commence at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre on the morning of Tuesday, October 15th, will feature a recitation of poetry under the theme "The Duo of Wallada Bint Al Mustakfi and Ibn Zaydoun." Poets Najat Al Dhaheri and Mohammed Al Mansouri will present their works, accompanied by the Nawaris Al Sharq Choir.

The inaugural session of the forum will commence with the theme "The Civilizational Extension between the East and the West: The Story of an Arab Memory," featuring presentations by Dr. Saif Al Badawi and Dr. Noura Al Karbi, and moderated by media personality Aisha Al-Ruwaima.

On the same evening, the second session titled "The Holy Quran is the Secret of Our Arab and Human Culture" will commence at six o'clock at the Al Hira Majlis. The session will feature presentations by Dr. Mohammed Al-Mustaghanimi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Hosni, with moderation by media personality Dr. Abdul Salam Al Hamadi. 

The agenda for the second day of the forum features the third council titled "Intellectual Security and its Role in Preserving National and Islamic Identity." This session will commence at 10:00 am in the Al Hira Majlis, and will be presented by Dr. Mamoun Abdul Karim and Dr. Maryam Sultan Lootah. The session will be moderated by Aisha Al Ajil, a distinguished writer.

The fourth session will commence at 11:00 pm, featuring a presentation titled "Readings in the Content of the Speech of the Ruler of Sharjah on Arabs and Their Language," delivered by Dr. Issa Al Hammadi. The dialogue will be moderated by the writer Sheikha Al Jabri. The first poetry readings, titled "If the Rain Rains," will commence at 6:00 pm at the Palace of Culture. The event will include participation from poets Sheikha Al Mutairi, Abdullah Al Hadiya, and Dr. Abdul Razzaq Al Darbas. The dialogue will be moderated by the writer Salma Al Hefeiti.
 
The third day of the forum will be the closest to children in schools, as the writer Aisha Al Ajil and Professor Latifa Al Darmaki will present story readings for children under the title “A Feather and an Inkwell”, at Al Shola Private School and Sharjah Private School.

The upcoming forum session titled "Future Education Needs: Passing Through the Values of Society" is scheduled to commence at 10:30 am in the Al Hira Majlis. Dr. Suleiman Al Jassem will present the session, and the discussion will be moderated by the esteemed writer Najiba Al Rifai.

At precisely 11:30, the sixth session of the forum will commence, focusing on the theme "Altered Biographies: Writing in the History of Place and Time." This session will be delivered by Dr. Sultan Al Amimi and moderated by media personality Alia Al Mansoori.

The seventh session is scheduled to commence at 6:00 pm on Saturday, October 19. The session, entitled "Reading the Books of Andalusia," will be delivered by Dr. Ghanem Al Samarra’i and the writer Maryam Al Zarouni, with moderation by Professor Mohsen Suleiman.

Poetry readings titled "Between Two Times" will be held at 7pm as part of the forum's "If the Rain Rains" program. The event will feature the participation of several poets including Sajida Al Moussawi, Salima Al Mazrouei, Akram Jameel Qanbas, Muzaffar Al Hammadi, and Zainab Amer. The session will be moderated by writer Sheikha Al Masmari.

The closing session of the "Emirati Women Writers Forum, Ishraq and Her Sisters," will take place on Sunday, October 20th, featuring the eighth council themed "Inquiries for a Trailblazing Female Writer." Notable writer Sheikha Al Nakhi will be a participant in this session, while writer Asma Al Zarouni will serve as the moderator. The dialogue will commence at precisely 10:00 a.m. in the Al Hira Majlis.

The ninth session is scheduled for 11:00 am and will focus on "Novel Experiences in the Name of a Woman." The session will feature presentations by writers Kholoud Al Holi, Maryam Al Shehhi, and Latifa Al Hajj, with moderation by writer Saliha Obaid.

The tenth and final session, titled "Women and the Experience of Literary Criticism: Past and Present," will commence at 6:00 PM on the same day at the Sharjah Ladies Club. The session will be hosted by Dr. Maryam Al-Hashemi and Dr. Hind Al Mashmoum, with moderation by the writer Fatiha Al Nimr.

The concluding session will feature the third installment of "If the Rain Rains," titled "Andalusian Night." It will showcase the Nawras Al Sharq Choir and poets Sheikha Al Jabri, Amal Al Sahlawi, Asma Al Hammadi, and Samiha Al Tamimi, accompanied by musician Maryam Al Shaloubi. The session will be facilitated by media professional Munia Burnat and will be an exclusive event for women, taking place at the Sharjah Ladies Club headquarters at 7:00 pm.
