Sharjah24: Liverpool FC has announced the extension of their defender Gerald Kwansah's contract for a long period, following his excellent performances with the Reds in the recent period.

English club Liverpool has extended the contract of their defender Gerald Kwansah for a long period.

Kwansah, 21, made his first appearance with Liverpool's first team last season, and since then has played 33 matches across all competitions and featured twice this season under the guidance of coach Arne Slot.

Kwansah told Liverpool's official website, "I couldn't be happier at this moment. I think the way the new coach is going, his training methods have been a key part of that."

He added, "I believe this is the best club in the world for me in terms of development and becoming a better player."

The young defender pointed out, "I think the players around me, who I look forward to working with strongly and listening to, I think they are the best in their positions at the moment, so as I've probably said, there is probably no better place for me to be."

Kwansah joined the initial squad announced by former England manager Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 in Germany.

He joined Liverpool's youth academy at the age of five and progressed through the club's ranks until he reached the first team.

Kwansah made his first appearance with Liverpool's first team in the match against Newcastle United in August 2023 when he came on as a substitute. He also played in Liverpool's victory over Chelsea in the League Cup final last season.
