Sharjah 24 – AFP: A tragic fire engulfed a school bus in northern Bangkok on Tuesday, claiming the lives of over 20 individuals, mostly children. The bus was carrying 38 students and six teachers on a field trip when it caught fire, reportedly due to a tire burst that caused it to crash.
Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed that 21 people escaped, but 23 remain unaccounted for, with DNA testing needed for identification of the deceased. Rescuers faced challenges recovering bodies from the charred remains, as many were severely burned.

Authorities are searching for the bus driver, who fled the scene. Survivors suffered serious burns, particularly to their faces and eyes.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited survivors and promised government support for medical expenses and compensation for victims' families. Thailand's road safety record is among the worst in the world, with around 20,000 fatalities annually.
