Sharjah 24 – AFP: On Sunday, an Israeli raid in Beirut's southern suburb aimed at a Hezbollah leader, according to a source close to the party. The Israeli army confirmed it conducted a precision strike in the area.
The target was identified as Abu Ali Reda, commander of the Badr Unit overseeing operations north of the Litani River, one of Hezbollah's key regions in southern Lebanon. His current status remains unclear, but Hezbollah later denied reports of his death, stating he is safe.
Eyewitnesses reported an explosion and thick smoke rising from the site, with the official National News Agency noting a significant attack by Israeli warplanes between Shiyah and Ghobeiry. A local witness claimed to have seen a building collapse from a missile strike.
The Israeli military indicated that the strike was precise. Since Monday, southern and eastern Lebanon, including Beirut's southern suburb, have faced heavy Israeli bombardments, resulting in numerous casualties and displacements.
On Sunday, Hezbollah mourned Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, an official killed in a previous raid, confirming he was targeted as a member of the party's central council and commander of a security unit.
