Sharjah 24 – AFP: On Friday, Israel conducted air strikes on Hezbollah's headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, shortly after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his commitment to combat the militant group. The strikes generated significant smoke clouds over the densely populated area, a stronghold for Hezbollah.
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari stated that the attack targeted "the central headquarters" of Hezbollah. While multiple strikes had occurred in southern Beirut earlier in the week, this was the most extensive.
Initial reports did not confirm any casualties, but a source close to Hezbollah indicated that six buildings were destroyed and that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was unharmed, despite claims he was a target.
The air strikes followed Netanyahu's address to the UN General Assembly, where he emphasised Israel's resolve to continue operations against Hezbollah and Hamas.
