Dr. Al Rand: ”MoHAP” launches national influenza campaign

Sharjah24: The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has launched its annual national seasonal influenza awareness campaign under the theme, “Protect Yourself, Protect Your Community”, with the aim to educate the public about the importance of taking preventive measures against the flu. The campaign is set to continue until March 2025, in collaboration with the Emirates Health Services (EHS), Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) - Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DoH), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Dubai Health.

According to Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, the seasonal influenza vaccine is readily accessible at all health centres and hospitals, and it is provided free of charge to all citizens aged 6 months and above. Individuals with chronic illnesses can access it for free, while other categories of the public can avail it at a nominal fee.

Dr. Al Rand stated that it is necessary to receive the vaccine as it provides protection against infection and complications. Additionally, getting vaccinated helps protect the community. He strongly encouraged the public to proactively get vaccinated.

The campaign is focused on increasing community awareness, promoting for prevention measures, and decreasing the impact of the disease. It also seeks to encourage public vaccination and enhance the expertise of healthcare professionals by training them on the latest global protocols for the prevention and control of seasonal illnesses.
