Sharjah24: Sharjah City Municipality (SM) announced today that its Central Laboratories Department has received international certification from the British certification body, "UKAS," for the 25th consecutive year, signifying a quarter-century of excellence since 1999.
During this time, the municipality provided a variety of analysis and auditing services, thereby improving public health in the emirate in accordance with its strategic goals and vision of ensuring a healthy environment and preserving Sharjah's status as the first Healthy City in the Middle East and North Africa.
Adel Omar, the Director of Public Health and Central Laboratories, emphasized the municipality's commitment to ongoing improvement and the use of state-of-the-art technology, under the supervision of a distinguished staff that conforms to the highest global standards. This provides high-quality services and accurate findings, which benefits public health in the emirate while also fitting with the aims of improving human health and maintaining a high-quality environment.
The Veterinary Laboratory's international accreditation has reinforced the department's continued success, according to Sheikha Dr. Najla Ali Al Mualla, Director of the Central Laboratories Department.
This achievement means that all municipal laboratories, including the Food Laboratory, Environment and Consumer Products Laboratory, Construction Materials Laboratory, and Veterinary Laboratory, have now received UKAS accreditation.
She underlined that these laboratories had successfully completed all audit phases, receiving international certification.
Sheikha Dr Najla Ali Al Mualla further stated that Sharjah Municipality's laboratories are constantly improving quality and enhancing analysis procedures using cutting-edge technology.
The department is dedicated to constantly introducing new equipment and technology in order to keep up with the emirate's overall development and the continued evolution of all facets of life.
The mission is to improve public health in all sectors of the Sharjah community, develop innovative techniques to fulfil the municipality's vision and objectives, and stay ahead in auditing and analysis.
She concluded by saying, "For 25 years, the Central Laboratories Department has embraced innovation, continually improving analytical procedures, and introducing new equipment to cover all goods and materials.
