Since the system's launch, 19.67 million digital tax refund requests have been processed by the end of H1 2024, marking a 35.25% rise compared to the 14.54 million recorded by H1 2023. The number of retail stores linked to the system expanded to over 16,870, and the deployment of self-service kiosks grew by 20.25%, further streamlining the refund process for tourists.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, FTA Director-General, attributed the surge in tax refund requests to the UAE's booming tourism sector, which aligns with the country's vision for economic diversification. The advanced digital system, which replaced traditional paper invoices, ensures efficient and accurate tax refund procedures, contributing to the UAE's leadership in providing world-class government services.
