Sharjah 24: Asmaa Al Khudari, Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly Programme of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), announced the launch of the strategic plan for 2024-2026.
The announcement was made during a special event held at the House of Wisdom, in the presence of representatives from different government agencies to highlight their expected roles in implementing the plan.

The strategic plan includes various programmes that benefit the elderly in Sharjah.

Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Asmaa Al Khudari confirmed that the plan focuses on launching programmes that serve the elderly, aim to enhance their quality of life and meet their needs by developing the infrastructure and services directed to them.

Al Khudari added that the plan includes 8 main axes that were approved by the World Health Organisation, including: housing, social services, health services, transportation, outdoor spaces, buildings, communications and information.

Al Khudari explained that the plan is an important step to confirm Sharjah's position as an active member of the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities, and to enhance the emirate's role as a pioneer in adopting international standards for caring for the elderly and integrating them into society.

The Director of the Sharjah Age-Friendly Programme concluded that such steps come within the framework of Sharjah's ongoing efforts to ensure the provision of the best services to all segments of society, especially the elderly, who deserve full care and attention to ensure a dignified and independent life.
