Sultan bin Ahmed launches an eye surgery campaign in Egypt

Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), launched a campaign for eye surgeries, donated by Sharjah Broadcast Authority (SBA), in cooperation with Sharjah Charity International, targeting eye patients who are unable to pay the costs of treatment, at the University Hospital in Aswan, Egypt.
His Highness learned about the services provided by the hospital to patients in its different departments and the latest medical equipment and facilities equipped to receive large numbers of patients. His Highness listened to an explanation of the mechanism for receiving patients and diagnosing eye diseases, through examination and triage rooms, leading to the surgical operation the patient needs.

His Highness met with patients who underwent eye operations and were sponsored by SBA, through its charitable television and radio programmes that work to collect charitable donations from donors, reassuring His Highness of their health, calling on the Almighty God to grant them good health and lasting wellness.

Patients expressed their great happiness with the visit of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi and the reassurance of their health, and getting the opportunity to receive free treatment to begin practicing normal life again, hopingthat God Almighty will grant His Highness and the good people a huge reward for the humanitarian services provided by Sharjah institutions to treat patients in different parts of the world.

Muhammad Hassan Khalaf, Director General of SBA, thanked His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his presence and launching hearts and eyes campaigns for in the Arab Republic of Egypt, praising the great support that SBA receives from the wise leadership and their continuous directives that enhance the authority’s contributions to charitable work, seeking to reach those in need, contributing to raising their standards of living, and providing a healthy life for all patients around the world.

The Director General of SBA praised the great cooperation of Sharjah Charity International in supporting charitable campaigns, appreciating their efforts in reviewing medical cases through the radio programme “The Sent Wind” and contributing to collecting donations to provide medical assistance to those who need it.

Muhammad Hassan Khalaf stressed that the Authority’s mission is not limited to the media role only, but extends beyond that to include the humanitarian and social aspects and the promotion of the values of goodness, love and social solidarity, considering that visits and meeting with patients that receive the necessary treatment and talking with children’s families work to motivate those in charge of the charity programmes departmet to do more in order to provide health assistance to the largest possible number around the world.

Abdullah Sultan bin Khadim, Executive Director of the Sharjah Charity International (SCI) expressed his satisfaction with the launch of the campaigns in Aswan Governorate, Egypt. These campaigns are part of the SCI's ongoing charitable initiatives, which have successfully facilitated over 130 heart surgeries for children in different countries across Asia and Africa.

According to Bin Khadim, the campaigns receive sponsorship from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority and generous philanthropists. Their goal is to carry on with their humanitarian mission of providing medical treatment to children with heart diseases and individuals with eye conditions in Aswan and the surrounding areas. He stated that the SCI would be responsible for supervising all surgical procedures performed at Magdi Yacoub Heart Centre or Aswan University Hospital.

Bin Khadim highlighted the friendly efforts in these charitable campaigns, showcasing the United Arab Emirates' commitment to helping people in need across the globe. This highlights the importance of this duty and strengthens the connections among individuals. He thanked the donors for their support, which plays a crucial role in helping them fulfil their humanitarian mission, extending appreciation to the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority for their significant contribution to the treatment campaigns and these projects that enhance the health and quality of life for the beneficiaries and bring hope back into their lives.

A new campaign, launched by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, aims to collect generous donations from kind-hearted individuals. An initiative has been launched to offer essential care and treatment to around 500 individuals who lack the financial means to treat eye diseases, visual impairments, and undergo cataract surgeries.

Aswan University Hospital is home to a wide range of specialised departments in medical treatments, staffed by highly trained nurses who are skilled in handling a variety of cases. Additionally, the facility boasts state-of-the-art operating rooms that are fully equipped with the latest medical technology, allowing for the treatment of a greater number of patients. This is particularly vital , considering the hospital's wide reach, serving not just Aswan Governorate but also the surrounding provinces.

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi recently unveiled the "Adopt a Library" initiative at the Dr. Magdi Yacoub Heart Centre and Aswan University Hospital during his visit. This project is part of the efforts by the "Kalimat Foundation" to bring compact libraries to children. Each library is filled with 100 Arabic books, covering a wide range of topics and suitable for various age groups.

An initiative has been launched to distribute libraries to various locations, including refugee camps, hospitals, non-governmental and community centres, schools, universities, and institutes. The aim is to provide access to educational and knowledge resources for as many people as possible, particularly those who have lost access to such resources. Its purpose is to assist individuals in adapting to their new communities while also preserving their cultural ties.

The Sharjah Charity International is actively involved in conducting numerous charitable campaigns throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt. The SCI's delegation will be heading to the city of Sohag, where they plan to distribute food parcels and honour the orphans who have dedicated themselves to memorising the Holy Quran. The delegation will also be making visits to kidney dialysis centres and hospitals that specialise in heart and eye care. Their goal is to ensure that donations are reaching the individuals who truly need them.
