Sharjah 24 – AFP: Slovakia grittily held out for a shock 1-0 victory against Belgium on Monday after a defensive mix-up gifted Ivan Schranz an early goal to get his country's Euro 2024 campaign off to a flying start against the third-ranked side in the world.
Belgium pressed relentlessly for an equaliser, with Romelu Lukaku in particular guilty of multiple missed chances. The striker also had two goals ruled out by VAR in the second half and only a fine block on the line by David Hancko denied Johan Bakayoko a goal.
