Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Council on Sunday organised a joyful event to commemorate World Bicycle Day. Participants gathered for a mass ride along the beautiful Sharjah Corniche in Al Heera. 1,100 athletes from both genders took part in the event, with the support of the UAE Cycling Federation, the Sharjah Triathlon Team, and Al Qudra Sports Services Company.
The cyclists completed a 9-kilometer journey in a span of two hours, starting at 6:00 AM and finishing at 8:00 AM. They followed the speed limit of 30 km/h, which was set by the organising committee to ensure the success of the event and the safety of all participants. Slower cyclists chose to ride in the right lane, while faster cyclists opted for the left lane.
This event is a reflection of the Sharjah Sports Council's dedication to being involved in World Bicycle Day, celebrated on June 3rd. This community sports event is a wonderful opportunity for cycling enthusiasts and fans to come together and enjoy a day of outdoor activity. The ride included the participation of Mansour Bu Asiba, President of the UAE Cycling Federation, and Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events at the Council. Mr. Bu Asiba commended the event's success, emphasising the significance of World Bicycle Day and the remarkable turnout. This reflects the enthusiasm of cycling enthusiasts and their eagerness to take part in the global celebration, building upon the achievements of past editions.
