Sharjah 24: Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, underscores the cultural significance of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage in motivating heritage enthusiasts and living human treasures.
He elaborated on the launch of the fifth edition of the Sharjah International Award for Cultural Heritage themed "Cultural Heritage... Human Communication will encompass three categories: exemplary practices in cultural heritage preservation, distinguished narrators "human treasures," and outstanding research and studies in cultural heritage. Each category comprises three sub-categories: local, Arab, and international, totaling nine categories overall.
Al Musallam highlighted to “Sharjah 24” that the award significantly enhances cultural endeavours, underscoring the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s pivotal role in supporting and invigorating heritage-focused institutions. Notably, the institute holds a second-category status with UNESCO.
He noted that the institute conducted introductory sessions about the award in Egypt and Morocco, highlighting the strong interest from researchers and institutions. "There is significant momentum in the cultural field," he added.
