Dr. Mohammed Jameel Mohammed from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has been awarded second place for his thesis titled "Application of Accreditation in Jordanian Hospitals: Perceptions of Healthcare Professionals."
The Award Committee has made the decision to withhold the third place in the Administrative Sciences category and the top three positions in the Financial Sciences category for 21st Sharjah Award for the Best PhD Thesis in Administrative Sciences in the Arab World. The decision was made due to the fact that none of the submissions met the high standards set for the award.
The President of the University of Sharjah honoured the sponsors of the award, including Sharjah Islamic Bank as the "Gold Sponsor" and the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry as the "Silver Sponsor." In addition, the scientific committee members were honoured for their contributions. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed graciously participated in a group photograph alongside the members of the award's Board of Trustees.
The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, accompanied by the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Attendees then watched a video presentation that showcased the prestigious award, which has been a significant presence since its establishment in 2001. The presentation provided an overview of the award's goals, categories, and the significant number of participants over the years. It also provided an overview of this year's thesis submissions, which reached a total of 108. The video presentation also provided information about the scientific committees that evaluated the participating theses and announced the winners of the current cycle.
The award seeks to inspire researchers in the Arab world to document their administrative practices, with the goal of creating frameworks and benchmarks for Arab management. The objective is also to promote comparative field and applied studies in Arab administration that address environmental and real-world problems. In addition, the award guides research to address the national requirements for administrative and financial development, along with overall growth. It also emphasises the dissemination of administrative and financial studies to ensure their findings and recommendations are broadly adopted and put into practice.
The Board of Trustees has outlined several key criteria for evaluating and selecting the winners. These criteria encompass the importance and originality of the research topic, the research methodology, a review of previous studies in the same field, the findings of the study, and the proposed recommendations and policies.
The two winners showcased a visual summary of their award-winning thesis. The researchers engaged in a comprehensive discussion regarding the research problem, objectives, and methodological procedures they employed. They also highlighted the key findings and recommendations from their respective theses.
