Sharjah 24: Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), affirmed that the authority is actively promoting tourism and hotel projects in Sharjah at the Arabian Travel Market.
Al Qaseer mentioned that the authority is partaking in the Arabian Travel Market for the 17th time. He emphasised the significance of this event as a vital platform for promoting tourism and engaging with industry decision-makers. During their involvement, they prioritise the promotion of Shurooq's tourism projects, particularly those focused on sustainable and environmental tourism.

He elaborated to Sharjah 24, "Our current emphasis is on Mleiha National Park, boasting antiquities dating back 200,000 years and offering a multitude of activities. This ongoing project aims to elevate it into a national park through various stages, including area rehabilitation, preservation efforts, and wildlife reintroduction. It will feature designated zones for adventure activities and sand dunes exploration."

Al Qaseer highlighted the authority's involvement in the hotel sector, with a current focus on the Sharjah Group. Notably, expansions include the addition of 20 new rooms to the Kingfisher Lodge in the Mangrove Reserve in Kalba and 17 rooms to the Al Badayer Oasis Hotel during the first quarter of this year. Additionally, the upcoming "Najd Al Meqsar" hostel in Khorfakkan, a village over 100 years old, will feature 7 rooms in its initial phase, set to open within 10 days. Plans for the second phase, comprising 40 rooms, are currently under review.
