Dr. Salhi highlighted that during the golden age of Islamic civilization, the Arabic language was able to assimilate various other civilizations that existed simultaneously. She highlighted the significance of Arabic language as a global language, considering the fact that it is spoken by 362 million native speakers, and 274 million speakers of it as a second language, making it one of the most important global languages and one of the official languages of the United Nations. She also emphasized the importance of conferences that discuss the Arabic language, particularly due to its special features.
According to Dr. Zahia Ismail, the Arabic language is the most important factor upon which our nation is based. It is an essential element in building the identity of every individual of this nation and the language of the Holy Qur’an. It has become one of the strongest ties and links between Muslims, and a global language sought by millions of Muslims in the world due to its connection to their religion and Islamic culture. Dr. Zahia Ismail also mentioned that non-Muslims are also interested in learning the Arabic language to communicate with the people of the language and to communicate with the Arab and Islamic heritage. The Arabic language is the key to Arab and Islamic culture, as it allows its learners to see the cultural and intellectual depth of a nation that has been influential for several centuries and left a vast cultural legacy in various arts and sciences.
Dr. Maryam Saeed Blajid, the Head of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and the Head of the Conference Organizing Committee, gave a welcoming speech to the attendees. She announced the launch of the "Scientific Forum: Arabic Language and Grammar" at the University of Sharjah. This platform aims to restore the deserved presence of grammar and linguistic sciences using modern methods. She also announced the release of the electronic version of the conference book, which consists of four chapters and includes fifty papers.
