April 04, 2024 / 4:28 PM
Sharjah24: The Sharjah Municipality has announced that 43 teams will be assigned to inspect and monitor distortions in public appearance during Eid al-Fitr. In addition, the municipality has developed proactive plans to respond to the public’s reports, observations, and inquiries.
According to Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of the Sharjah City Municipality, the work teams that have been assigned by the municipality include various areas of municipal work. This is being done to implement the various tasks carried out by the municipality. Some teams will follow up on food establishments to ensure their compliance with health standards and controls, particularly in light of the remarkable demand for restaurants and bakeries during Eid. Other teams will monitor barbershops and beauty centres, which are also very popular.

The inspection teams will monitor these facilities around the clock to enhance public health in the emirate. They will also preserve public safety and ensure that health and safety standards are implemented.

Al Tunaiji explained that the monitoring and inspection teams would intensify their efforts to monitor negative behaviours and distortions of the public appearance. They will take administrative and legal measures against violations, including street vendors, whom the municipality constantly warns against and urges the public not to deal with. This is particularly important since street vendors offer goods of unknown origin and practice this activity in random markets that distort general appearance. The inspection tours include various sales outlets to ensure that fireworks are not sold and promoted due to the danger they pose to the individual and society.

The supervision and inspection teams are also working to intensify supervision of the beaches by providing large numbers of lifeguards on them. They are also intensifying supervision of the green areas to follow up on the public’s adherence to the guidelines and instructions issued by the municipality, especially leaving the spot clean.

Al Tunaiji stated that the municipality would work to prepare the Eid musalla, provide the necessary parking, and prepare them to receive the people. The municipality has provided specialised, fully equipped staff to accomplish the tasks.

Regarding public parking, Al Taniji confirmed that parking is free on the first, second, and third days of Eid, with the exception of areas subject to fees throughout the week and official holidays, which can be inferred through the blue signboards. He pointed out that the inspection teams affiliated with the Public Parking Department will monitor violations in the use of public parking, especially reserving more than one parking space or randomly parking behind vehicles, obstructing traffic, and other wrong practices and behaviours.

He noted that Sharjah Parks are ready to receive visitors in light of the family and entertainment atmosphere that the parks provide, as well as areas for children’s playground. He also pointed out the importance of adhering to the conditions and instructions necessary for visiting the parks, which are shown on the information signs.

The municipality calls on the public to contact it via the call center at 993 to report any violations or observations, as it welcomes all communications around the clock.
