'School of Storytelling' delights children with many activities

Sharjah 24: As part of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s participation as a main partner in the “Tales Under the Ghaf Tree” event, organised by the Rubu’ Qarn Theatre and Performing Arts Project throughout the nights of the holy month of Ramadan at City Centre Al Zahia, the International School of Storytelling and Oral Arts held a package of knowledge programmes and educational workshops directed at children during this interesting Ramadan event.
In this context, His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, stressed the institute’s commitment to supporting events and activities that enhance the children’s culture and refine their knowledge in a way that contributes to consolidating their awareness, building their personality, and strengthening their connection to their society and history, pointing to the importance of heritage tales and popular stories in preserving identity, instilling authentic values and principles in the hearts of children.

His Excellency expressed his appreciation for the important role played by the Rubu’ Qarn Theatre and Performing Arts Project, affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators by adopting and implementing specific programmes, projects and competitions for children and youth with the aim of developing their knowledge, improving their leadership personalities and qualifying their abilities to work in a team spirit.

His Excellency explained that the International School of Storytelling is making a qualitative and extensive effort to preserve the oral storytelling heritage and the narrative arts associated with it and facilitate ways of disseminating it and reaching various groups and segments of society, including children, while benefiting in this aspect from the treasures of the global oral heritage.

For her part, Israa Abdullah Al Mulla, Director of the International School of Storytelling, said that the activities, workshops, storyteller sessions, and weekly theatrical performances included in the event (Tales Under the Ghaf Tree) witnessed a remarkable turnout from children and youth and were distinguished by their attractive style and expressive performances.

She pointed out that the participation of the International School of Storytelling came through several educational workshops and knowledge programmes distributed over four days, in addition to the various programmes.
