Sharjah Triumphs: Crowned Champions in 2024 Basketball Showdown

Sharjah24: The men's basketball team of Sharjah emerged victorious in the fourth edition of the Sharjah International Basketball Championship for Men in 2024. They secured the title by defeating the Lebanese team Antonin with a score of (81-74) in the final match held on Tuesday evening at the Sharjah Sports Club. The championship, which took place from February 29 to March 5, was sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah
Antonin from Lebanon claimed the second position, while the Syrian team Al-Wahda secured the third spot. The Lebanese team Hops finished in fourth place. The Emirati team Al-Batayeh and the Syrian team Al-Ahli Aleppo participated in the group stage and quarter-finals but did not reach the top positions.

H.E Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqer Al Qasimi, the chairman of Districts Affairs Department, presented the championship cup and gold medals to the winning team. The ceremony was attended by Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, President of the Arab and Emirati Basketball Federation, Sharjah Sports Council Chairman Issa Hilal Al Hazami , Abdul Latif Al Fardan, the Vice President of the UAE Basketball Federation, Khaled Isa Al Madfa, the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Club, and Mohammed Obaid Al Hossan, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Sports Club and the Head of the Collective Games Management. Several officials and representatives of sponsoring companies were also present.

This victory marks the second title for the Sharjah team in the Sharjah International Basketball Championship for Men. They previously clinched the cup in the second edition against the Egyptian team Al Jazeera in February 2014. The inaugural edition in 2010 was won by the Lebanese team "Al-Shanvil," while the most recent edition in November 2014 was claimed by the Saudi team Al-Nassr.
