Sharjah 24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah has directed that the Al Wusta Camel Racing Festival include a new category for its fifth edition next year.
This category will comprise four-year-old camels, and there will be new tracks during the festival. The festival is sponsored by His Highness and organised by Al Wusta Channel from Al Dhaid, which is affiliated with the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Statistics and Community Development Department, Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, attended the closing ceremony of the fourth edition of the Al Wusta Camel Racing Festival at the Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track the previous day.

Sheikh Mohammed Mu'did Ali bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi and Sheikh Mohammed Mu'did Saeed bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi were also in attendance at the closing ceremony, as were a number of dignitaries, officials from Al Wusta Channel, and heads and members of councils, departments, and government institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The event included 50 distinct rounds aimed at the local community, as well as "open" rounds for participants from all around the country and Gulf area. The festival featured important cash and in-kind awards, including a sword from His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah.

The festival, with its different events and activities, is an essential way to assist camel owners and encourage them to participate in this original Arabian sport, which represents a significant cultural and historical legacy for the Bedouin population. Such events draw great attention not just locally but also in the Gulf and Arab regions.
