Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, has received the 2023 "Humanitarian Personality" Award, which is presented by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). A first in the WTF's history, the award seeks to recognise Sheikh Mohammed's outstanding contributions in the field of humanitarian work and his support and care for refugees around the world who practice taekwondo.
Dr. Choue Chung-won, President of the WTF, presented the Fujairah Crown Prince with the award at a ceremony held today at Al Rumailah Palace and attended by the presidents of the continental taekwondo federations, members of the WTF Executive Board, and presidents of taekwondo federations around the world.
The Crown Prince of Fujairah praised the efforts of the WTF in promoting the combat sports sector, stressing that the Emirate of Fujairah pays special attention to the sports sector, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to consolidate the emirate's status as an incubator for top sporting events.
This recognition came just as the 4th Arab Cup Championship, which was held on 1st-2nd February, ended and the 11th Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship began, which is set to run until 7th February.
