Sharjah24 - WAM: Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, stressed the role of sports tournaments organised by the emirate in developing the sports sector and improving its indicators at all levels.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi made the remarks while attending part of the 4th Arab Open Taekwondo Cup (G1) today at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah.
Sheikh Mohammed pointed to the support and directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, to develop the sports sector and increase its competitiveness at the regional and international levels.
His Highness praised the continuous efforts of the UAE Taekwondo Federation and the Fujairah Martial Arts Club and their effective partnerships with Arab and international federations in martial arts, which contribute to strengthening Fujairah’s position in international sports circles in this field.
Sheikh Mohammed crowned the winners of a number of competitive rounds on the first day of the tournament, which attracted more than 1,300 players, both male and female.
The competitions were attended by Idris Al-Hilali, President of the Arab Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Championship Organising Committee, and Shaddad Al-Omari, President of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation.
