Sharjah24 - AFP: A bluefin tuna sold for around 114.24 million yen ($789,000) on Friday (January 5) morning at the annual New Year tuna auction held by Tokyo's largest fish market, local media reported.
An upscale sushi restaurant from Tokyo's Ginza district made the winning bid for the 238 kg (524.7 lbs) prized bluefin tuna.
This year's tuna bid was the fourth highest-ever since record keeping began in 1999, Kyodo News reported.
