'Kalimat' organises various events in cooperation with Expo Dubai

During the event
Sharjah 24: The Kalimat Group organised a series of events at Expo City Dubai, in conjunction with the celebrations of the World Arabic Language Day.
It included a dialogue with the Lebanese writer and translator Fatima Sharafeddine, which addressed the importance of the Arabic language in building the culture of the generation and consolidating its belonging to its civilisation and history.

The Kalimat Group also organised a signing ceremony for the writer’s new publications on the golden age of Muslim scholars, which were published in Arabic, and the group hosted the children in attendance for a reading session in Arabic.

The event with writer Fatima Sharafeddine discussed a number of topics, including the importance of writing for children about the golden ages of Muslim scholars, the impact of this type of writing on children’s relationship with their language and history, and in raising their awareness on the achievements of their civilsation. In addition to the importance of translating books that deal with the accomplishments of Arab civilisation into foreign languages. 
 
On the sidelines of the event, Kalimat Group organised a signing ceremony for a group of Fatima Sharafeddine’s books published in English, commissioned by Expo City Dubai, in confirmation of the group’s keenness to provide Arabic content to children in foreign languages, and to consolidate the relationship between the young generation of different languages and cultures from on the one hand, and Arabic language and culture on the other.

In continuation of its efforts to encourage children to read, Kalimat Group held an interactive reading session attended by a group of children, and focused on instilling a love of the Arabic language and learning about Arab history, its symbols, scholars, and their contributions to human civilisation.

Marjan Faraidooni, Chief of Education and Culture at Expo City Dubai, said: “Expo City Dubai’s approach is based on stimulating cultural and cognitive communication and interaction, and in this regard, we pay special attention to the Arabic language, because it is one of the most important pillars on which the culture and identity of the United Arab Emirates is based, and it has a fundamental role in shaping our values, heritage, and knowledge.”
