Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) (Mother of the Nation), received today in Dubai a number of female dignitaries participating in the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is being held at the Expo City Dubai.
Those who met Sheikha Fatima included Katalin Novák, President of Hungary; Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of Estonia; Dr Mariem Mint Mohamed Vadel Ould Dah, wife of President of Mauritania; Verónica Alcocer García, wife of Colombian President; Lis Cuesta Peraza, wife of President of Cuba; Lydia Abela, wife of Prime Minister of Malta.
Sheikha Fatima also received a delegation of experts speaking at the forum organised by the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Refugee Women at COP 28.
During the meeting, they exchanged cordial conversations regarding relations and cooperation between the UAE and sisterly and friendly countries and the common desire to strengthen bridges of communication and cooperation for the sake of the lofty goals of developing and prospering societies and coming together to address various challenges, especially climate change and its negative impacts on the environment and human lives.
The meeting delved into fundamental issues affecting women and children, exploring avenues for collaboration and knowledge sharing to strengthen collective efforts aligned with societal interests and aimed at tackling familial challenges.
The country's participating guests expressed their congratulations to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and the leadership of the UAE and its people on the occasion of Union Day. They also wished the UAE more progress, development and prosperity.
The guests lauded the UAE's remarkable cultural accomplishments and its transformative development journey, expressing their admiration for the cordial ties and strong cooperation that exist between their respective nations and the UAE.
In turn, Sheikha Fatima extended thanks and appreciation to the state guests for congratulating her on the Union day, and for the sincere feelings they expressed towards the UAE and its people, wishing their countries and peoples continued progress and development.
Sheikha Fatima also held a luncheon in honour of the guests, which was attended by a number of Sheikhas.
